Two hours before your flight departure time, we'll transfer you to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado Airport, a staff member will be waiting for you and transfer you by road to the pier. Your Amazonian adventure will begin with a 45-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River, which flows through the rainforest. The motorized wooden boat travels along the winding riverbanks to reach your Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica eco-lodge, nestled in the middle of the rainforest.
After a briefing, you will settle into your palm-thatched cabin, located in Peru's first private ecological reserve, established by Inkaterra in 1975 to protect this delicate environment. After lunch, retreat to your rustic luxury cabin for a siesta or a hammock swing before choosing from a wide range of à la carte guided excursions with your expert Inkaterra Explorer Guide. We recommend hiking along the trail system for an immersive introduction to the intricate biodiversity of the Amazon basin and the layers of the rainforest. Walk alongside towering trees, such as the shihuahuaco, while your ears tune into the squawks, whispers, and calls of the exotic fauna that inhabit this rich ecosystem. There are excellent birdwatching opportunities and abundant flora. Keep your camera ready in case sloths or monkeys appear in the treetops.
As evening falls, we recommend taking our twilight river excursion to witness the jungle's transformation from a diurnal to a nocturnal world, where diurnal animals and birds give way to species specially adapted to the darkness of night. You might also see nightjars, owls, capybaras, and caimans prowling the riverbanks.
An Amazonian-inspired dinner is served in the main dining room from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Back in your comfortable cabin, listen to the intriguing sounds of the creatures that inhabit the rainforest surrounding the lodge.

DAY 11: LAKE SANDOVAL TOUR | INKATERRA (PEM)
Early in the morning, head to the dining room for your buffet breakfast, which is served starting at 5:30 a.m. This morning, visit Lake Sandoval, a crystal-clear, oxbow-shaped lake located within the protected Tambopata National Reserve. Reached via a sun-drenched stream, you glide down to Lake Sandoval, flanked by picture-postcard palm trees. This serene lake is home to many bird species, including the endangered giant river otter, red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-necked turtles, and black caimans, among others. We then return to Inkaterra Amazon Reserve in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we recommend climbing Inkaterra's exciting canopy walkway. The canopy walkway is a sophisticated and safe network of seven ecologically constructed suspension bridges strung between eight observation platforms in the treetops high above the jungle floor. This is an unforgettable opportunity to observe the rainforest from above and get a sense of its scale. Ascend the first vertigo-inducing tower 38 meters (124 feet) above the ground, keeping an eye out for brilliant toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and the three-toed sloth. You can extend your soaring stay with sunset drinks atop a tower, or spend a once-in-a-lifetime night in a specially designed treehouse with amazing amenities (additional fee applies).
After descending, enjoy a 30-minute Anaconda ride that follows a 200-meter elevated wooden platform. In this lush ecosystem, you can observe diverse species of amphibians, birds, mammals, abundant flora, and interesting trees. In the afternoon, we return to the lodge for an à la carte dinner, served at 7:00 PM.

DAY 12: INKATERRA | FLIGHT FROM PUERTO MALDONADO TO LIMA (Lima)
Enjoy your last morning in this natural paradise while parakeets chatter in the trees and agouti mammals scurry between the cabins.
