DAY 3: COOKING CLASS WITH VISIT TO SAN PEDRO | Cusco

Start the day with breakfast at your hotel. Your guide will then contact you to begin this flavor experience. We will head to the traditional San Pedro market, where we will learn about the living culture of Cusco. Here, we will find a variety of products, including fresh juices, cheese, chuta bread (large circular bread), coffee, and coca leaves. We will also purchase ingredients for the cooking class. We will choose between preparing ceviche or lomo saltado, depending on your preference.

We'll then continue to the cooking class. For approximately two hours, you'll discover your culinary skills in the kitchen. Under the chef's supervision, we'll apply the techniques needed to cut everything from an onion to the final touch of your selected dish. This experience will conclude with a tasting of the food you prepared, where you can rate your dish and enjoy the blend of flavors. At this point, you'll understand why Peruvian cuisine is ranked among the best in the world.
Finally, ask the chef questions about improving your seasoning or recommending tips for your next dishes at home. Take home this memorable and educational moment.

DAY 4: VISIT THE MARAS AND MORAY SALT FLATS | Urubamba

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, your guide will pick you up at 8:00 am. You will head to the Maras Salt Flats (3,200 masl/10,499 ft). This journey takes approximately 1 hour. The road is paved, and near the Maras Salt Flats, it's a dirt road. Don't worry, the transportation will be adequate for your trip.
During the trip, we will observe fields of wheat, potatoes, barley, and other crops. During the rainy season, the landscape is impressive, as everything turns green. The inhabitants of these areas are dedicated to agriculture and animal grazing. There are more than 3,000 salt ponds located in this place. From the top, an incredible landscape can be seen. According to researchers, this product was formerly used to dehydrate food and make it last longer. Currently, this type of dehydration is used in remote communities. The residents who own the wells extract the salt every week. During the dry season, it is extracted every 2 to 3 days. This product is selected in layers and used for human, medicinal, and animal consumption. To generate salt, the wells are fed by springs found in the area's mountains. We will then continue to the archaeological site of Moray (3,500 masl/11,483 ft). This site was an agricultural laboratory where crops were grown in different altitudes. The circular terraces create a unique natural landscape. Then, we will head to Urubamba, where we will have a buffet lunch and then head back to your hotel to rest.

DAY 5: OLLANTAYTAMBO - PACHAMANCA ACTIVITY | Aguas Calientes

After breakfast at your hotel in the Sacred Valley, your guide will pick you up at 10:00 am to begin the tour to Ollantaytambo. We will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo (2,792 masl/9,161 ft). According to the constructions, this site was a military and religious center during the Inca era. Ollantaytambo is also considered a top tourist town because of its unique architecture, cobblestone streets, and water channels, making visiting this place an incredible and magical experience. Then we will head to the place where we will participate in the preparation of an Andean dish, Pachamanca. We will collect the products from the farm. This exquisite dish is prepared with hot stones where we add all the ingredients such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans, chicken, beef, and vegetables. After a 45-minute wait, we will enjoy the food. It will be a mixture of unique and different flavors. In the afternoon, take the tourist train to Aguas Calientes. The trip lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes until reaching the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, a staff member will be waiting for you and will transfer you to your hotel so you can rest and prepare for the next day.

DAY 6: TOUR TO THE WONDER OF THE WORLD MACHUPICCHU | Cusco

We will board the first buses from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. The journey takes 35 to 40 minutes. The path zigzags through dense vegetation until we reach the entrance gate to Machu Picchu (2,430 meters above sea level/7,972 feet). If you wish, you can use the restrooms, as there is no such facility inside the sanctuary. Together with our guide, we will begin the tour on the designated route. The charm and mysticism of Machu Picchu will connect you with the nature and history of this place. You will be amazed by the precision of the stone carvings and the hydraulic system used by the Incas. The guide will make stops to provide details of each site we visit, where you can also take photographs.
After a 2.5-hour tour, it will be time to return. You will take the bus to descend along the same route to Aguas Calientes. We will drop you off at the tourist restaurant so you can enjoy lunch. You can also explore and get to know the town on foot, as there is no public transportation.
Depending on your return train schedule, you should arrive 30 minutes in advance to the Aguas Calientes station. The return route is the same to the Ollantaytambo station. Enjoy the onboard show and the views along the way. Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo station, a designated shuttle will be waiting for you and will return you to your hotel in Cusco (3,399 masl/11,152 ft).

DAY 7: VISIT THE CAMELID MUSEUM AND THE 4 RUINS | Cusco

We will begin our tour with pickup from your hotel. The guide will pick you up at 8:30 a.m. and then board a shuttle that will take us to the first stop. 30 minutes from Cusco is the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman (3,700 masl/12,140 ft), where we can appreciate the megalithic constructions that were made there. After a few minutes on the shuttle, we will visit Qenqo. Then, we will continue to the community, a place full of charm and traditions. This place welcomes us with its colorful decoration based on alpaca and llama wool fabrics. We will begin the tour by first visiting the most iconic camelids of the Andes: llamas and alpacas. Here, you will live a unique experience interacting with animals such as the Suri, Guanaco, Alpaca, and Llama. You'll be able to take many photos, feed them, and interact directly with the camelids. You'll also have a close-up experience of how they make different textiles, such as blankets, purses, sweaters, and decorative home decorations.
Then, it's time to board our transport, which will take us to Pucapucara and finally to Tambomachay, which was a sacred place for water worship. We'll then return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel or in the main square so you can dine at the various restaurants located there.

DAY 8: TREKKING TO THE RAINBOW MOUNTAINS | Cusco

Very early in the morning, at approximately 3:30 am, the guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin this incredible adventure in the mountains. A two-hour journey, we'll arrive at the breakfast point in Cusipata (3,310 masl/10,860 ft). We'll enjoy a buffet breakfast prepared with local products. Then, we'll travel by transport again for another 40 minutes. We'll pass through checkpoints where we pay the entrance fee. Two neighboring communities manage this mountain. Our hike begins in Llacto. All transport arrives here, and from here everyone begins their walk. At this point, the guide will give you some recommendations and give you your trekking poles. The hike is moderate, lasting approximately 1 hour. It then becomes challenging for 30 minutes. Due to the altitude, we must ascend towards the end to reach the tourist viewpoint (5,100 meters above sea level/16,732 feet). From there, we'll have impressive views of the mountain range, and we'll also see the Red Valley in the distance.
Once at the top, we'll have a brief explanation from the guide, who will provide information about how this beautiful place, made up of red, ochre, green, and yellow colors, originated and formed. Then, we return along the same route to the parking lot, where we will board our shuttle to the restaurant for our buffet lunch. We will then return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.
