Half Day: Journey to Sillustani: Exploring Ancient Wonders from Puno
Ready for a day full of discoveries? We start the adventure by picking you up from your hotel in Puno at around 8:50 am. Then, we head to the fascinating archaeological complex of Sillustani on a comfortable 45-minute bus ride.
Once there, we will explore the ancient tombs from the Colla and Inca periods. You'll see the impressive chullpas of Sillustani and feel the unique energy of this sacred site. It is said that these tombs were the resting places of priests and rulers of the Colla culture. Known as funerary towers, they reach heights of over 10 meters and remain preserved to this day due to the use of a mixture of stones, clay, and sillar. We will spend approximately two hours learning about the history of this site. Simply being here, you will feel mysticism and powerful energy. According to researchers, there are around 90 funerary towers. While exploring the area, we will also enjoy views of the nearby Umayo Lagoon, located close to the chullpas.
On our way back to Puno, we will stop at a traditional farm. Here, you'll see how the locals, the Colla people, live in their traditional houses and get the chance to meet llamas and alpacas. It will be a delightful experience!
Finally, around 1:00 pm, we will return to Puno and drop you off at your hotel.
